Jordan’s official Petra news agency reports that a solar-powered water project inaugurated at Mu’tah in Karak is designed to supply 50% of the irrigation needs of 46 greenhouses. The reported system includes 22 kW of solar-powered pumping equipment serving several main wells.
The project is a useful example of how a water system can be assessed by service delivered rather than panel capacity alone. The reported objectives include more reliable agricultural water and lower electricity and water costs. Petra also says the project is expected to avoid about 27 tonnes of carbon emissions annually, but those figures remain project estimates rather than a universal performance benchmark.
Designers should still confirm well yield, seasonal groundwater levels, pressure zones, filtration and the storage needed between sunlight and irrigation cycles. In a greenhouse setting, crop schedules and water quality can be as important as the pump’s rated power.
Aquasolar did not participate in this external project. Its relevance is the disciplined link between solar generation, pumping duty and a measurable agricultural water service.
