The Philippine National Irrigation Administration Region II highlighted Solar Pump Irrigation Projects (SPIP) during the Handog ng Pangulo 2026 event on 14 September. Its account says two completed projects worth PHP 20 million were formally handed over to the Emmongan Irrigators Association.
The regional programme covers Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino and Cagayan. Alongside the project handover, NIA Region II listed operations and maintenance support, livelihood assistance and other services for irrigators’ associations. From project handover to reliable water delivery
A completed solar irrigation project should be evaluated as a water system, not only as a PV installation. The useful checks include source yield, static and dynamic water levels, total dynamic head, discharge layout, storage volume, seasonal crop demand and the controller’s response to changing solar input.
Civil works and maintenance boundaries matter as well. Intake protection, pipe supports, earthing, lightning protection, access for service and responsibility for replacing wear parts can determine whether a project continues to deliver water after the handover ceremony.

The PHP 20 million figure is a programme value reported by the regional authority, not a price benchmark for a particular pump configuration. Buyers comparing similar projects should request the bill of quantities, acceptance tests, operating records and the division between PV, pump, controller, storage and civil works.
