Eiffage Energía Sistemas announced on 11 September 2026 the completion of seven zero-export self-consumption photovoltaic plants for the Príncipe de España Irrigation Community in Aguas Nuevas, Spain. The community brings together about 500 farmers and more than 3,000 hectares of crops; the PV plants supply energy directly to boreholes and irrigation reservoirs.
Distributed generation for pumping
The project uses 23,900 monocrystalline modules rated at 540 Wp, horizontal single-axis trackers and 110 kVA multi-string inverters. Eiffage reports combined generation of 26.7 GWh per year and avoided emissions of 1,972 tonnes of CO₂ annually. The seven sites are distributed around the wells and reservoirs rather than concentrated at one location.
Zero-export operation keeps the generated energy on the farm for pumping, which can reduce exposure to electricity-price changes. The published figures are the project company’s report and should be checked against operating data, hydraulic demand and local grid rules. Aquasolar did not participate in this project.
