The single biggest driver of solar-pump lifetime is matching the wetted materials to the water. Get it right and a pump runs for years; get it wrong and corrosion or abrasion cuts it short.
For fresh water, cast-iron or SUS304 housing with a SUS304 (or engineering-plastic) impeller is the standard choice. For salty, brackish or coastal water we recommend SUS316 wetted parts or a plastic impeller. For sandy or silty water, a screw pump — or a stainless-impeller pump with an oil-cooled motor — tolerates sediment far better. Pool water calls for corrosion-proof engineering plastic.
